Spend the day exploring the Great Ocean Road, and later enjoy the amazing views of one of the most famous and scenic coastal stretches in the world as the sun sets. Enjoy and take in the breathtaking coastline where every twist and turn introduces you to stretches of uninterrupted beaches, dramatic coastlines and the lush rainforest of the Otway Ranges. This is a day that will be etched in your memory forever as the scenery provides you with an amazing postcard backdrop for unforgettable photo opportunities.

Start your day by traveling through Victoria’s second largest city, Geelong, before heading south to the coastal town of Torquay, the gateway to the Great Ocean Road.

Enjoy a Didgeridoo performance and a walk through the native garden spotting emus and kangaroos and a cafe lunch. Wind along the coastal road stopping at scenic spots along the Surf Coast and Otway national park including Memorial Arch.

Enjoy excellent value for money by purchasing two of Melbourne's most popular tours in one combo. On a Great Ocean Road day trip, see the Twelve Apostles rock formations and other coastal sights. Then, on another day of your choice, take a tour to Phillip Island to witness the natural phenomenon of the Penguin Parade. Book these two tours together as a package to save money for you and your family. The date you select when booking is for the Great Ocean Road tour; the date you choose for the Penguin Parade is up to you, and they don't have to be consecutive.

This combo experience from Melbourne allows you to save money by booking two bestselling tours at one price. The Great Ocean Road and Penguin Parade tours can be done on consecutive days or not—it's up to you.

Penguin Parade tour:
Depart Melbourne in the afternoon by coach, heading to Phillip Island. Stop for about an hour at the Churchill Island Heritage Farm, where you can admire picturesque views and enjoy a traditional afternoon tea, if you wish (own expense), consisting of Devonshire tea with scones, jam, and cream.

Continue to the Koala Conservation Centre on Phillip Island, and walk along an elevated boardwalk where koalas are looked after in their natural habitat, sleeping in and munching on eucalyptus trees. After about 20 minutes here, it’s time to head to the Penguin Parade, where every evening at sunset, the island’s wild fairy penguins, aka little penguins, make their way up from the sea to their burrows on Summerland Beach. Watch as they waddle across the sand, a sight best seen from the Penguins Plus Premium Viewing Area. The time you spend here varies depending on the season and when the penguins emerge from the water.

Your tour ends with return to Melbourne.

Great Ocean Road tour:
After meeting your driver-guide in the morning, depart Melbourne on the roughly 2-hour drive to your first stop, the Twelve Apostles. Stop at the boardwalk lookout for another vast perspective of the rocks. (Weather permitting, you also have the opportunity to take a helicopter ride over the coastline, if you wish, at your own expense.)

After about 45 minutes, continue your day trip for more views of the Great Ocean Road’s golden sandy beaches and stark cliffs at Loch Ard Gorge, the site of the Loch Ard shipwreck. During this 45-minute stop, you also have time to visit Island Arch and Razorback, formed by the rough seas.

For morning tea, your guide treats you to an Aussie bush-style billy tea served with the traditional lamington cake. During this 25-minute stop, you can also enjoy some crackers and Vegemite, a beloved Australian spread that typically takes some getting used to for foreigners. Then stop at the seaside resort town of Apollo Bay, where you can purchase lunch—perhaps some fish and chips—and enjoy it on the beach (own expense).

Before the journey back to the city, make a 20-minute stop for afternoon tea in the seaside town of Port Campbell (own expense). Your day trip ends with drop-off in Melbourne.
